Career
Shenae Grimes is a Canadian actress who is also best known for playing popular
yet distraught good/bad girl Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Beginning with minor role in 2004, Grimes became a lead character in Degrassi in
2006. In 2008, she was cast as Annie Wilson in 90210, the CW's spinoff off
Beverly Hills, 90210. Grimes returned for the eighth season of Degrassi, but
because of her work for 90210, her role is now recurring.
Despite the popularity of the various series in the Degrassi universe since 1979
(The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High, Degrassi High, Degrassi
Talks, School's Out, and Degrassi: The Next Generation) in both the United
States and Canada, Grimes is only the second Degrassi actor to subsequently star
in an American-produced television series; the first being Rachel Blanchard of
The Kids of Degrassi Street and Clueless. Coincidently, both actresses' U.S.
characters are high school students in Beverly Hills.
Grimes graced the cover of the November 2008 issue of Saturday Night Magazine
who called her 90210's "new Brenda." She also appeared in the ABC movie Picture
This along with High School Musical star Ashley tisdale and former co-star
Lauren Collins from Degrassi.
